May & June...

Our whole life on returning from Australia seemed dedicated to Julian’s new role as chairman of the Summer Fair organising committee for Bramley and Little London.  We had decided to raise the bar set by the previous year’s committee who had doubled the funds raised over prior years, and we set about building on this by introducing a live band, a brass octet and the Bramley Dog Show topped by the attendance of Sue Holderness of “Only Fools and Horses” fame.

It turned out to be a fabulous day with superb weather.  The band was outstanding and Sue is an absolute star: she took several turns on the microphone, got involved in all the awards for childrens’ painting competition, dog show and raffle, and talked (or so it seemed) to every one of the several hundred people who attended.  

The result of the day was a 150% increase in funds raised over the previous year and a great afternoon’s entertainment for our two villages.
