October...

We spent a weekend away from decorating down in Fuengirola, on the southern Spanish coast near Malaga, attending the Mijas Hash House Harriers 1,000th run along with 500 other runners.  There were a number of different runs to choose from on the Saturday afternoon and Julian chose a long, hot and dry run that took about 2 hours to complete and had one virtually vertical hill.  So Young on the other hand chose to go shopping for shoes!

The evening dinner and dance started with traditional Andalusian musicians, fino sherry and tapas followed by the opportunity, for those that wished, to get in the bullring with a young (but still scary) bull.  Yasmin was the belle of the ball after dinner with a number of people whisking her off to the dance floor although she needed no encouragement.

Sunday’s run and the closing event were held in very impressive surroundings - the courtyard of a Moorish castle, and we all had to wear traditional red hats, even on the run.  We finished the day with paella on the beachfront, where Julian and Yasmin built sandcastles while everyone else ate and listened to the live band (some of the runners) playing the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Back in the UK, we finished decorating the last bedroom and are looking forward to having carpets and curtains in the not too distant future.  At school Yasmin performed the role of a miller grinding flour in her first ever stage performance of the Little Red Hen.
